The Field Application Engineer (FAE) is a field-based expert responsible for delivering exceptional mainly post-sale support to customers, ensuring their needs are met promptly and effectively. In this role, the FAE oversees the successful installation, adoption, and optimization of Cepheid’s GeneXpert systems within clinical laboratories across the region. By partnering closely with all customers in the region, the FAE maximizes system uptime, drives adoption, and enhances the commercial value of GeneXpert systems and assays.
This position reports to the Field Application Engineer Manager, Italy & Iberia and is part of the Customer Care organization working remotely to cover South Iberia Territory.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Conduct pre-installation site assessments, install instruments, configure software and connectivity, and provide ongoing support to customers during the evaluation stage. Continue to assist after product launch and on assay conversion, implement any necessary hardware or software updates, including connectivity enhancements.
Monitor sites and deliver training on system operation, software, reagents and connectivity.
Carry out reactive repairs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, deinstallations, and relocations in a timely, productive, and cost-effective manner. Interpret customers’ needs and take responsibility for resolving issues, coordinating with other functions and liaising with the customer on both administrative and technical matters. Manage spare parts, including stock levels and inventory for car stock and other required components.
The essential requirement of the Job Include:
Diploma and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Biology, Bachelor’s Degree with experience in Diagnostic industry an advantage
2-3 years’ experience in health care / biomedical /handling Medical Devices or experience working with laboratory customers in the region and Knowledge of diagnostic market
Fluent in the local language of the region, with a strong command of English. Knowledge of Portuguese is considered an advantage,
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Ability to travel and spend around 80% on the field
Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to lift, move or carry equipment up to 27 kg
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Technical support and training experience in reagent and instrumentation for Clinical Diagnostics
Experience with customer base within territory

El Field Application Engineer (FAE) es un experto de campo responsable de ofrecer un soporte excepcional principalmente postventa a los clientes, garantizando que sus necesidades se atiendan de manera rápida y eficaz. En este puesto, el FAE supervisa la instalación, adopción y optimización de los sistemas GeneXpert de Cepheid en los laboratorios clínicos de la región. Colaborando estrechamente con todos los clientes de la zona, el FAE maximiza el tiempo de actividad de los sistemas, impulsa la adopción y aumenta el valor comercial de los sistemas y ensayos GeneXpert.
Este puesto reporta al Field Application Engineer Manager, Italy & Iberia, y forma parte del equipo de Customer Care, trabajando en modalidad remota para cubrir el territorio del sur de Iberia.
En este puesto tendrás la oportunidad de:
Realizar evaluaciones del sitio previas a la instalación, instalar instrumentos, configurar software y conectividad, y proporcionar soporte continuo a los clientes durante la fase de evaluación. Continuar ofreciendo asistencia tras el lanzamiento del producto y durante la conversión de ensayos, implementando las actualizaciones de hardware o software necesarias, incluidas mejoras de conectividad.
Monitorizar los sitios y ofrecer formación sobre funcionamiento del sistema, software, reactivos y conectividad.
Realizar reparaciones reactivas, resolución de problemas, mantenimiento preventivo, desinstalaciones y reubicaciones de forma puntual, productiva y rentable. Interpretar las necesidades del cliente y asumir la responsabilidad de resolver las incidencias, coordinando con otras funciones y gestionando la comunicación administrativa y técnica con el cliente. Gestionar repuestos, incluidos niveles de stock e inventario tanto del stock del vehículo como de otros componentes requeridos.
Los requisitos esenciales del puesto incluyen:
Diploma y/o Grado en Ingeniería o Biología. Se valorará experiencia previa en la industria del diagnóstico.
Entre 2 y 3 años de experiencia en el sector sanitario / biomédico / manejo de dispositivos médicos, o experiencia trabajando con clientes de laboratorio en la región, así como conocimiento del mercado de diagnóstico.
Fluidez en el idioma local de la región, con un sólido dominio del inglés. Se considera una ventaja el conocimiento de portugués.
Requisitos de viaje, conducción y condiciones físicas/ambientales:
Capacidad para viajar y pasar aproximadamente el 80% del tiempo en campo.
Permiso de conducir válido y con un historial de conducción aceptable.
Capacidad para levantar, mover o transportar equipos de hasta 27 kg.
Será un plus si también cuentas con experiencia previa en:
Soporte técnico y formación en reactivos e instrumentación para diagnóstico clínico.
Experiencia con la base de clientes dentro del territorio.
